The DVD triple-deck PACE compliant interview recorder designed and manufactured by David Horn Communications in Luton is now in full production and has entered service with a number of Police Forces and the MoD.
This machine is the result of painstaking R&D to produce a lightweight, reliable, multi-streaming DVD interview recorder specifically for Police use both now and well into the future. Its many unique features include providing for three identical DVD recordings with two camera angles simultaneously burned on each – a first in the industry. DVDs produced by the system may be replayed on all known commercially available DVD players, showing in conventional Picture-In-Picture format or separately in full frame quickly accessed via the ‘Angle’ function of a remote control. A resolution colour TFT screen is set within the front panel for set-up and confirmation purposes, automatically reviewing ten second previews (with audio) of each disc on interview completion. A separate monitor provides current status information, messages and warnings. The system is designed for long service life and ease of operation with the absolute minimum of training, and its many advanced features, alarms and safeguards include integral back-up stereo Knowles microphones and the facility for local interview monitoring. An optional integral server is available to provide secure low bandwidth remote interview monitoring. A broadband web interface is also provided for local server-based DVD back-up, remote upgrades, fault diagnostics and maintenance.
