Sixty lightweight portable interview recorders have been delivered to the Victoria Police. This model, designed specifically for portable applications, is based on the UK machine but with functionality similar to the previously delivered Victoria Police static recorders which incorporate a stop/suspend interview function. It is housed within a lightweight but robust metal cabinet and is further protected by a purpose-made carrying bag. The bag contains all necessary accessories for portable interview recording and includes a stereo table-top microphone, dual-view zoom camera, full height extending tripod with pan and tilt head, cables, power supply and blank DVDs.
The Victoria Police recorder is configured as a mono-stream model. It offers extended audio and video recording using two camera inputs and records as a single stream in conventional Picture-In-Picture (PIP) format or single camera view only. Camera views may be switched over and the position of the PIP is selectable within the frame.
MultiStream model configurations are also available where both camera inputs are recorded simultaneously in two streams which may then be viewed as separate full frame views at any time, accessed via the ‘Angle’ function of a DVD player’s remote control. The PIP functionality is still selectable on the MultiStream if required.
A small, high-resolution colour TFT screen is incorporated for camera set-up and confirmation purposes, automatically viewing ten-second previews (with audio) of each disc on interview completion. A small integral VFD monitor provides additional detailed status messages, prompts and warnings.
